Springhill Medical Center is a full service hospital serving southwest Alabama. Our surgical services include outpatient, inpatient, open-heart and robotic surgery. The hospital is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment, meaning doctors have advanced technology to help them quickly determine a patient's health problem. Responsibilities & Qualifications

Position Overview: Reports to the Director of Health Information Management. Responsible for the supervision of coding staff to ensure timely and accurate coding for billing of hospital claims. Experience in correlating coding accuracy and documentation appropriateness to resolve coding issues and to present information on going (i.e., case mix, DRG analysis) to management. Provides education and training to staff.  Writes appeals. Responsible for meeting or exceeding all performance and benchmarking goals for DNFB metrics and staff productivity.

 

Pre-employment Requirements:

  • We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

  • All employees are required to be vaccinated or provide a valid medical or religious exemption.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate from an approved Health Information Technology or Health Information Administration Program. 
  • Must be credentialed as a RHIT or RHIA.

Job Requirements:

  • Certified Coding Specialist preferred.
  • 5 years coding experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience preferred.
